Exploring Crea vityMusic, Drama and the Arts are fundamental to the early learning experiences. Our children have enormous fun singing and performing in produc ons throughout the school year at Harvest  me, Na vity, Easter class assemblies and our Summer me Leavers’ Assemblies. The ever-popular cabaret shows and performances by Bristol Old Vic Theatre School give many children their fi rst experiences of performance arts as well as Drama and Dance workshops for all pupils. There are lots of opportuni es for messy fun to be had, learning Arts & Cra techniques, Design Technology, collage and more. Children are inspired by projects outside of school in the local community and further afi eld.

For this Staff use Google Classroom where teachers share learning, achievements and homework ac vi es. Children and Parents/Carers can contribute to class streams/discussions and upload home learning photos.Every child has a Home/School Reading Log where messages about reading and homework can be shared with Parents/Carers. Teachers also use Google Classroom to share ‘wow’ moments during the school day: This could be a great piece of work or a though ul gesture or upcoming special event at school. Parents/Carers and other family members view these moments to feel connected with their child’s learning at school. Working with You12

We have a happy friendly school community where children are ac vely encouraged to be mindful, considerate and respec ul of other children and their Teachers. Children across the school regularly have the opportunity to meet and learn together. This could include sharing learning, a ending House Mee ngs or our Year 2 pupils reading or ac ng as Playground Buddies for younger Year Groups. School Council has representa ves from all our classes to sample opinion and gather viewpoints of the pupil popula on. School Council is an important part of school life. The children elect House Captains from Year 2 to act as ambassadors for the school. Annually children collect over 50,000 House points towards winning the House Cup. Helping others and charity fundraising are valuable learning experiences at Summerhill Infant School. Whether we are raising money through ac vi es for Na onal chari es, collec ng food for local foodbanks or singing to our local elderly communi es, each event helps the children demonstrate a sense of the world around them and how they can posi vely contribute to their local and wider community.
